Food Trucks for 2016!
We plan to let you, the runner make a decision on if you want food or not and what kind you would like by bringing in food trucks to the event. This results in us being able to lower our prices and give you more freedom. Because here in the USA we love freedom.
About this Event
This is a San Antonio original trail event. Start and finish at Classic Elite Soccer Complex and run on the trails of McAllister Park. The actual start is on top of the dam south of the police station for those who know the trails. It is about 1/4 mile from packet pickup and the finish at the Classic Elite soccer fields. The finish is inside of the soccer complex. The 10K will start at 9PM and the 5K will start at 9:05. The course runs through heavily wooded dirt trails in the pitch dark. The 5K and 10K run completely different routs except for the last 1/2 mile where they joing together. A flashlight or headlamp is required and extremely necessary. The trails can be very rocky with tree roots in places, as well as low branches so paying attention is critical. There are many opportunities to fall. This is not a trail run for beginners. It is up to you to provide your own lighting so you do not take a spill or run into a branch. Trails are marked with signage and glow sticks in the trees. Glow sticks guide you along the trail but do not by any stretch illuminate the ground, so make sure you have a good headlamp and/or flashlight. All runners will receive a tech shirt and post race beer (for those of age). This is a fun run. NO AWARDS will be given but overall results will be posted at the event and online.
4 Person Team Division
You may register a four person team. The 1st overall team will win the competition. There is no male, female, mixed or age groups. Just one lucky team will take home 4 awesome etched mugs. If you want to mail in your team entry, all competitors must fill out and sign the entry form.
Parking (please read)
YOU MUST ARRIVE EARLY FOR THIS EVENT. Especially if you plan on race day packet pick up (see info below on Early Packet Pickup). There will be plenty of parking at the Start/Finish, Soccer Fields at 11600 Starcrest. NOTE: The start will be a 1/4 mile walk from packet pick up so please allow yourself enough time.
10K and 5K Courses
The 10K starts at 9:00 pm sharp. The 10K has 2 water stops on the course. Each wave is based upon those people’s 10K road racing ability. Each runner will have 2 hrs to complete the course. This is a 19:21 pace per mile for the 10K and a 38:41 pace for the 5K. If you cannot run this pace do not sign up for this event. The 5K will start at 9:10PM. It is separate course but will share the last 1/2 mile with the 10K.
- Early Packet pickup (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED) will be held at We Run San Antonio, on Thursday, July 21, 11:00 am–7:00 pm and Friday, July 22, 10:00 am – Noon. We Run SA is located at 11503 NW Military Hwy #116, San Antonio, TX 78231
- Race day packet pickup will be held at Classic Elite Starcrest Soccer Field across from Blossom Athletic Center, 13800 Starcrest, San Antonio 78247 from 7PM – 8:45PM. Note: If you choose to pick up your packet on race day please plan to arrive EARLY
Post Race Party
The party will offer music, beer, refreshments and food trucks for those wishing to purchase food.
